It is true that a bully will cease to exist the moment onlookers decide to take a stand. In the story, it is Wanda, a Polish girl, who is constantly bullied by her classmates. They tease her of being poor and having a strange name. They make fun of her and make her feel inferior by asking her about her dresses. Their behaviour towards Wanda is completely undesirable as it is based on hatred and racism. However, Wanda scarcely ever says anything to anybody. She does not worry about her situation. She simply works towards putting her best and wins the drawing competition. She gets appreciation from everyone in her class. Even, classmates, who earlier bullied her, feel guilty and try to apologies. Thus, Wanda’s confidence wins over the people who bully her.
