Instead, he made an educated guess to explain the happenings according to 'Catastrophe Theory'. He explained that some interactions must have initiated the transition. He presumed that at the time of the collision, Professor Gaitonde might have been thinking about the Battle of Panipat. This may have caused his switch to the other world. The professor admitted that he was wondering what course could events of history take if the Marathas won the Battle of Panipat.
