i. Add barium chloride solution to each of the solutions. The solution in which a white precipitate is formed is Zinc sulphate and the other in which no effect is Zinc chloride.
ii. The best test to distinguish between acetic acid and ethanol is to react them with sodium bicarbonate known as baking soda(NaHCO3).
In the medium, ethanoic acid react to form sodium acetate, carbon dioxide gas and water but ethanol does not reacts.
CH 3COOH + NaHCO3 ---> CH 3COONa + CO2 + H2O
C2H5OH + NaHCO3 ---> no rexation.
