Please explain logic behind this question
18. In a plane there are 27 straight lines,of which 13 pass through the point A and 11 pass through
the point B. Besides, no three lines pass through one point, no line passes through both points A and B
and no two are parallel. Find the number of points of intersection of the straight fines.

Logic behind the question is that any two straight lines, which are not parallel, always meet at a single point. In the question first it says beside 13 lines through A and 11 through B  no three lines pass through a single point which means no three lines intersect at a single point. They have given this because if three lines intersect at a point then the number of points of intersection will be reduced and we need to subtract and add few terms as discussed below.Next they have said no two lines pass through both A and B. A unique lines passes though two given points. If two lines pass through the same two points then they are the same lines or you can say they overlap. In these case you will have inifnitely many points of intersection and the problem will become meaninglessNext they say that no two lines are paralell. If two lines are prallel then they do not intersect.Here they have removed all other possibilites for remaning lines beside 13 through A and 11 through B possibilites by giving above statements. We have 27 lines each pair of lines will intersect at two pointsThus total number of points of intersection would have been C227But it is given that 13 lines have a common point of intersection A . 13 lines intersect in C213 waysAlso it is given that 11 lines have a common point of intersection B . 11 lines intersect in C211 waysC213  points concide with A and C211 points concide with B, thus we will subtract C213+C211 from C227 but add 2 to it because we need to count A and B onceTotal number of point of intersection=C227-C213+C211+2 =220
