please explain the following terms and clearly point out the diff between them

incipient wiltng

temporary wilting

nascent wilting

permanent wilting

Transpiration often results in water deficits (wilting) which causes injury to the plants by desiccation.

  • Partial and temporary loss of turgor in a plant that occurs in the presence of adequate soil moisture and is associated with excessive water loss through transpiration. It is called incipient wilting
  • Rapid transpiration causes midway leaf water deflects. It is called as temporary wilting.
  • Loss of water by cells happens without any external sign. It is called nascent wilting.
  • Under certain conditions when the rate of transpiration exceeds the rate of absorption, Plants face internal water deficit.  It is called permanent wilting.
