Please explain the formula for percolation rate.

Water percolation rate of the soil refers to the rate of the movement of water through the soil as it passes through the small holes or spaces between the particles of the soil. Rate of percolation is different for different types of soil. 

It is calculated using the following formula.

Percolation rate = Amount of water (ml)/Percolation time (min)

Percolation rate per minute = amount/time

if u took 50gm sand and poured 50ml water, if it took 5 mins then the percolation rate will be 50ml / 5 min

i.e 10 ml per minute
