Please explain the internal meaning of the following lines -

I cant type this in hindi, but this is kind of comparing his life with some funny incients all around. In the first para, this is about certain obstacles in Premchand's life that were hampering his progress, which he overcame with his endeavours, but in  the whole process, his shoe was torn as if he was kicking something hard in his way to perpetuate what he was aiming to do..

In the second para, the writer's just contemplating on other way out, which premchand could have followed, instead of kicking that hard thing in his way, by just walking away from it, as the rivers are not always able to cut or cross all the hills and mountains coming in it's way. But still rivers continue to move towards their goal (to reach the sea) by ignoring some hills in its way.

In the third para, the writer's targeting the habit of Premchand to follow the rules, which he couldn't compromise with. He then looks at his torn shoe followed by his face. After looking the grin on the face premchand, he had to say that his habit of following the rules were not any limitations on him, but where his symbol of freedom, as he was free to do whatever he wanted to do after he passed out that hard stage of his life!

In last three he just mocks him as we do with our friends. After he noticed that being a renown poet and a writer, he was wearing his torn shoe even in his photo suit, without caring for anything. This shows that Premchand was satisfied with what he had and never took  any care for his outfit as we do, just kept doing with his work...
But, then also, the writer of the story says that he knew that the fingers peeping out of his shoe pointed towards something false like his false smile, but the truth that those fingers pointed towards the struggle in life of premchand.
