Please explain the various stages of inter phase in simple terms .with diagram

Dear Student, 

There are three steps in Interphase which are as follows:
1 G1 phase 
2 S phase
3 G2 phase 

1 G1 phase: This is also called as first gap phase. In this step cell synthesises lot of proteins and increases the cytosol content. Also cell grows in size so that it can further undergo division. Increased metabolism also occurs. G1 phase takes around 6-12 hours.  

2 S phase: Its also called as synthesis phase. As its name suggests cell makes copy of its DNA in this phase. Also it synthesises histone proteins which are present around DNA. S phase requires 6-8 hours to get complete. 

3 G2 phase: This is also called as second gap phase. In this step cell prepares itself for next step which is mitosis. In this step cell synthesises more proteins and duplicates organelles. This step requires 3-4 hours.
