Q.  The length and breadth of a field are 450 mts and 250 mts. A boundary wall is to be built round the field. One meter length of wall requires 200 bricks. How many bricks should be purchased for this purpose ?

The length of the field = 450 m
The breadth of the field = 250 m
The bricks require to build 1 m length = 200 bricks
So how many bricks he should purchase = ?
he should purchase = 200*450+200*250
                                = a*b+a*c = a*(b+c)
                               =  200*(450+250)
                               = 200*700
                               = 1400
Therefore he should purchase 1400 bricks.
