Jallianwala Bagh tragedy that took place on 13th April, 1919 was responsible for death of many Indians who had assembled peacefully at the bagh for celebrating Baisakhi and protesting against the arrest of a few national leaders. General Dyer arrived at the bagh with troops and fired at the gathering . It was a shameful chapter in British Indian history.
