Solution
1.a. the average speed = half of the sum of initial speed and final speed (as the velocity is increasing in uniform rate)
So, mathematically 
$average speed=\frac{u+V}{2}$
b.
As the object is moving in straight line,it's displacement = distance. Hence the numerical ratio of average velocity to average speed is 1.
