State the changes that take place in the uterus when :

(a)  Implantation of embryo has occurred
(b)  Female gamete/egg is not fertilised.

Dear student.

a.  Changes that occur in the uterus just after the implantation of the young embryo are;
1. Thickening of the uterus wall and the endometrium, and appearance of cushiony inner walls of the uterus.
2. Rich supply of blood vessels in the walls of the uterus.
3. Stoppage of the menstrual cycle and the menstrual flow and commencement of gestation period.

b. If an egg is not fertilised, the endometrial lining will rupture and will come out through the cervix along with the unfertilised egg, this is known as menstruation.
