Please tell why is it important that the water in the beaker be at a level above the thistle funnel in this experiment
Dear student,
Please find below the answer:
In the given experiment, The level of water kept in the beaker is 3/4th. This is because a test tube containing pond water also needs to kept in the beaker along with the Hydrilla plant. If the level of water is more than this the water of tube and plant will not get a place to accumulate themselves.
Level of stem of the inverted funnel is less than the water level in the beaker in order to maintain the jet of funnel remains inside the tube in a vertical position.
Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
