Dear student, Here you can see that the body is falling under gravity and then breaking into two parts, thus there has not been any external force alpplied ( breaking is due to internal force), thus COM of the system will not change with respect to A. No external horizontal force is applied, so in horizontal direction. Also there is no velocity horizontal direction, so centre of mass does not shift compared to that of A. Regards
