pls explain me what happen when alcohol reacts with 1)sodium metal 2)acidic acid 3)pcl 5 (4)pcl3 (5)k2cl2o7(6)alumina

1. The reactions are as follows:

(i) 2 R-OH + 2 Na  2 R-ONa + H2
                            Sodium alkoxide

(ii) R-OH + CH3COOH  CH3COOR  + H2O
                                         Alkyl acetate

(iii) R-OH + PCl5  R-Cl + HCl + POCl3
                               Alkyl Chloride

(iv) R-OH + PCl3  R-Cl + P(OH)3
                                                       Alkyl Chloride

(v) R-OH + K2Cr2O7  ROOH (carboxylic acid)

(vi) R-OH + Al2O3  Alkene.

1)alcohol reacts with sodium metal to form sodium alkoxide.
3)with pcl3 it forms alkyl chloride and phosphorous acid.
4)with pcl5 it forms alkyl chloride, hydrogen chloride and phosphoryl chloride.
5)with k2cr2o7 it form aldehyde which on further oxidation forms carboxylic acid.
6)reaction with alumina depends on the temperature.
at 260 degree celsius it forms ether
at 350 degree celsius it forms alkenes.
2)with acetic acid it forms ester.

If a small piece of sodium is dropped into some ethanol, it
react steadily to give of bubbles of hydrogen gas and leave a colourless solution of sodium  ehoxide ch3ch2ONA
. sodium ethoxide is known as alkoxide
