pls explain the diathermic wall.

Two simple substances otherwise adiabatically enclosed (by walls impermeable to matter) are separated by diathermic wall (impermeable to matter), then they cannot be at equilibrium at arbitrary values of variables of their state; p1,v1 and  p2,v2..for this to be the case there should exist a certain relation between the 4 variables, that is :

β(p1,v1,p2,v2) = 0

such an equation is an expression of thermal contact.

Diathermic walls are also known as adiabatic walls also. Adiabatic walls are those walls from which heat can neither be transfer from system to surroundings or surroundings to system.

ADIABATIC SYSTEM is a system in which heat can not be change with the surroundings. Because if the temperature is constent the system must exchange the heat with the surroundings. in this case it is not happen. Hence the temperature of the system has been changed.

Diathermic walls are those which allow the exchange of heat through them. They do not insulate the 2 systems.
