Pls explain this ques..

Dear Student,

The first three statements are correct whereas the last statement is incorrect.

  • The scala media or the cochlear duct is the region in the cochlea containing endolymph. It is a region of high potassium ion concentration. The stereocilia of the hair project into this canal. The stereocilia convert vibrations into nerve impulses to be carried to the brain.
  • The Fenestra ovalis or oval window is an an aperture in the wall of the middle ear, leading to the vestibule of inner ear. It helps in communication between middle ear and inner ear. Stapes attached to its base vibrate and help in transmitting sound waves to the inner ear efficiently.
  • The floor of scala media is the basilar membrane whereas the roof is Reissner's membrane.
  • The Cochlea contains two types of fluid known as perilymph and endolymph. Perilymph is rich in Na+ ions and endolymph is rich in K+ ions.
