Please find below the format of a newspaper report. It should be written in the same sequence.
1. A Headline: Your headline should be clear, accurate and easy to understand.
2. Byline and Place Line : Headline should be followed by a byline (eg. Name of reporter, date) & place line (the place for the news is being reported)
3. News Lead : It is the opening paragraph and the most important part of the news.
4. Body of the Report : It is the detailed news (which is summarised in the news lead). It should consist of the all known details and facts.
5. Quotes: This is optional and should be used when quoting other people in your reports. It should be written within the quotes and giving the name of the concerned person.
6. Include attributions: Always present the facts the way they are, give credit in your report wherever it should be which means always attribute / mention the source from where you got the knowledge from.
7. News style:
a) Always use hard news style - Don't use overly descriptive language
b) Use past tense while writing a news report
c) Start a new paragraph whenever there is a new fact / thought
d) Write news report in AP style.
