Pls give big summary of iswaran he story teller in passage

Dear student,

Mahendra’s job requirement
The story was narrated to Ganesh by Mahendra. Mahendra was working as a junior supervisor in a firm which offered on hire supervisors at various construction sites. His job made him move often- from quarry to railway construction site, to some chemical plant after some months. As he was a bachelor, he could adjust to all kinds of living conditions, be it a poorly-equipped circuit house or a temporary accommodation in a tent.
Iswaran- an asset to Mahendra
Mahendra was blessed to have a competent cook, Iswaran. He was quite attached to Mahendra and followed him wherever he was posted. He cooked for him, washed his clothes, tidied the shed, and told endless stories and anecdotes on various subjects. He cooked delicious food with fresh vegetables even in remote areas. He would give breakfast to Mahendra and even some prepared food to carry to work.
Spellbinding narrative of Iswaran
Iswaran’s descriptions were influenced by the Tamil authors that he read. While narrating even the most insignificant event, Iswaran would work in suspense and a surprise ending. He would describe an uprooted tree as a bushy beast lying sprawled across the road. Mahendra listened to his tales uncritically.
Confrontation with a tusker
One day Iswaran described how the elephants in his native place used for hauling timber were huge, well-fed beasts. Once, a tusker, who had escaped from the timber yard, created havoc in the town. It smashed stalls selling fruits, mud pots and clothes. It tore down fences. Finally, it broke through the brick wall of a school, pulling out the goal post, tearing down the volleyball net, kicking and flattening things in its path. The boys ran into the classrooms and the teachers climbed up to the terrace.
Iswaran, a little boy studying in the junior class at that time, was watching this episode from the rooftop. Suddenly, he grabbed a cane, ran down the stairs and challenged the elephant. The beast menacingly swung the branch of a tree and stamped its feet.
Iswaran approached it slowly and before the elephant could attack, he hit its third toenail with the cane. The beast was stunned for a moment, shivered and then collapsed. At this interesting point, Iswaran left the story unfinished to warm up the dinner. When he returned, Mahendra asked him to conclude the unfinished story.
Iswaran casually answered that a vet had to be called to revive and its mahout led it to the jungle. He had managed to bring down the beast due to a Japanese art: karate or ju-jitsu. It paralysed the elephant’s nervous system temporarily.
Iswaran’s haunting description
Mahendra did not feel the absence of a television due to Iswaran’s story-telling. On a particular auspicious day, the cook made special dinner for Mahendra. That night, unexpectedly, he launched into a garish account of the supernatural kind. He said that the factory area they were occupying was a burial ground strewn with human skulls and bones. He had seen ghosts at night, particularly of a woman with matted hair and shriveled face, holding a foetus in its arms. Mahendra dismissed Iswaran, calling ghosts a figment of his imagination. He asked him to get his head and digestive system examined as he was talking nonsense.
Mahendra’s unease
Still, Mahendra was perturbed. He peered out of his window into the darkness to ensure there wasn’t any dark shape nearby. After hearing the uncanny story, he avoided looking out of his window on full-moon nights.
Ghastly experience and horror
One night, Mahendra was woken up from his sleep by a low moan close to his window. At first he dismissed it to be a cat’s cry. As the cry grew louder, he peeked out of the window to see a dark, unclear form holding a bundle. He fell back on the pillow panting.
He gradually reasoned that it was some sort of “auto suggestion”, a trick that his subconscious had played on him. By morning, he had forgotten the horror of the previous night.
Sudden exit
Just then Iswaran reminded Mahendra how he had got annoyed at his imagining things. But, the previous night Iswaran had come running to his room at the sound of moaning. He knew Mahendra too had seen the ghost of a lady.
Mahendra was petrified. He hurried to his office and resigned. He decided to leave the haunted place the very next day.

Regards
