5. (a) Since opposite aides of parallelogram are equal. so AB=CD3x=2y+22y=3x-2 .... (i)And perimeter of parallelogram = 40so we have;AB+BC+CD+DA=403x+2x+2y+2+2x=407x+2y=38  ...(ii)so from (i) and (ii) we get;7x+3x-2=3810x-2=3810x=40x=4010=4then from (i) we get;2y=3×4-22y=10y=5b) since 3x-20° and y+15° are angles on same side of parallelogram.So we have; 3x-20°+y+15° =180°3x+y=185°      ...(i)Also opposite angles of parallelogram are equal. so we have;3x-20°=x+40°2x=60°x=30°Putting the value of x in (i) we get;3×30+y=185y=185-90=95°
