Nitrogen fixation is carried out by enzyme nitrogenase. Nitrogenase enzyme contains iron & molybdenum co factors which get oxidized in the presence of oxygen thereby affecting the activity and efficiency of the enzyme. That is why nitrogen fixation by bacteria does not take place efficiently in presence of oxygen. Answer is option B.
