- As we turned a corner, Nandu came face to face with a big shaggy bear.
- His blood froze as he realised it was a mama bear with two bear cubs beside her.
- Meher was so scared that he stood frozen at a distance: he knew mama bears are especially violent if they fear for their children's safety.
- Meher signalled to Nandu to stand still and not look the bear in the eye!
- He slowly crept away from the corner and took his rifle from his backpack.
- He did not wish to use it against a mama bear or her innocent cubs.
- He just aimed at the bear in case she attacked Nandu.
- The big bear inched closer and sniffed Nandu's shirt.
- She bared her teeth as a warning and growled menacingly.
- But, Nandu did not flinch.
