1) How do moisture and temperature affect the life of food materials?

Warm temperature and moisture favour the growth of the micro-organisms on the food particles. It decreases the shelf life of the food. The packed food should contain less than 10% moisture, otherwise the food get spoiled very soon. Low temperature and low moisture content reduces the chances of food getting spoiled. Food is kept in refrigerators so that low temperature inhibits the growth of the microbes.
