Dear student, Overuse and the excessive wastage of the water is the main cause of water scarcity. The other causes of water scarcity are- bacterial contamination of the water bodies, rise in arsenic and fluoride levels in water, rapid increase in human population causing increasd water consumption, less amount of the annual rainfall, dumping of industrial wastes in water bodies causing water pollution.
