'Long I stood' What does it imply? { Chapter: The road not taken}

Why is it said that the poem 'the road not taken' is autobiographical?

1. The Road Not Taken is said to be autobiographical because it is said that this poem describes that phase of life where the poet was standing at a diversion of his life where each of the path would define his carreer. The untrodden path was the path of writing which was not frequented by people because it had risks and uncertainity. While on the other hand lay the path which was common and got lost somewhere in the undergrowth but didn't satisfy poet's urge to do something new. The autumn season implied in the poem depicts the poet's youth ( the time of choosing a carreer ).

2." Long I stood..." expresses the dilemma of the poet. The poet was torn by confusion about which path to choose. On one hand lay the uncertainity but an urge to explore and on the other hand lay a known bright future ( which would get lost among the common ) but had the absence of that appeal which would have attracted the poet .

1. the road not taken is autobiographical because he was telling the poem as it was the story of his life that's why the poem was said autobiographical because the poem tells the story of his life...

2. long i stood means he stood at the diversion of the two roads for a long time thinking which way he should go......that's why he used this 'long i stood'..
