plz explain me the nomenclature of Tetraaquairon (lll) -M-dihydroxotetraaquairon (lll) sulphate.

Dear student

The given compound is a poly metallic compound which has two metal centres that are connected by the bridging ligands. The bridging ligands are named in such a way that a prefix - μ- has to be used before them. We need to start naming the compound from the left hand side and the compound needs to be named in such a way that the ligand will be named first followed by the name of metal ion. Now in the given complex, on the left hand side, four water molecules will be attached to the iron atom which is then further attached to two OH groups in the bridging form. The bridging OH are also connected to the other metal atom Iron which is again attached to four water molecules as the ligands. The charge on the coordination sphere is then balanced by the sulphate ion.
