The white people of Africa and the 'black' people of Africa had different national anthems, during the rule of whites and apartheid policy. On that day when Mandela was made president of South Africa, on 10th May, the white people of Africa sang Nkosi Sikelel -iAfrika and the 'black' people of Africa sand 'Die Stem'.
The white people didnt know die stem, and actually hated it. Even the black people didnt know nkosi sikelel -iAfrika, and used to hate it as well. But soon, they would all know all the words of both anthems by heart. This was because South Africa was free of its racial policy and both groups would now live together in harmony.
