Bengal refers to the unified and undivided region of East Bengal (Now Bangladesh) and West Bengal. This was before the division of East and West Bengal
West Bengal refers to the State of India.Since the Western part of Bengal was unified with the Indian Union it came to be known as West Bengal.
During the “Swadeshi Movement” in Bengal the flag designed was a Tricolour Flag.
The features of the flag were:
(i) Red, Green and Yellow was the colour of the flag.
(ii) The flag had eight lotuses representing the eight provinces of British India.
(iii) The flag had a crescent moon representing Hindus and Muslims.
