plz tell m how many spermatozoa are produced by 200 primary spermatocytes nd how many ova are produced by 100 primary oocyte? and explain it also..

1 Primary spermatocytes would give rise to 4 sperm cells so 200 primary spermatocyte would give rise to 800 primary spermatocytes but 1 primary oocyte gives rise to one functional egg so  100 primay oocyte would given rise to 100 ova.

@Others: Good work! Keep posting.

look sanya,,,,,,,primary oocyte ultimately forms one ovum in a period of 28 days known as menstrual phase ok,,,,,,,,so 1 ovum will be formed

1 primary spermatocyte produces 4 spermatozoa, hence 200 will produce 800 spermatozoa.

reason: well sperms or spermatozoa are formed in seminiferous tubules of the testis. testis consists of many spermatogonia or sperm mother cells which first multiply in number (multiplication phase) then these spermatogonia grow in size (growth phase). till now they are diploid. then comes the maturation phase in which these primary spermatocytes undergo meiotic division to form secondary spermatocytes (meiosis-I). now the chromosome number in sec spermatocyte is reduced to n (from 2n in primary spermatocyte). further each secondary spermatocyte undergo meiosis II which resembles mitosis to form 2 spermatids. hence 1 primary spermatocyte forms 4 spermatids. later on each spermatid undergoes metamorphosis to form sperm or spermatozoa (same thing). this is how it happens.!
