plz tell me about  primary and secondary metabolites.

Metabolites are the essential elements and the products of any metabolism which takes place inside a system. They are small molecules that act as catalyst, stimulator, signaling or inhibitor for any metabolic activity.

Primary metabolites are the type of metabolite which directly takes part in a metabolism like reproduction, growth and development. E.g.  alcohol, amino acids, nucleotides, vitamins etc.

Secondary metabolites do not take part in metabolism directly but necessary in some specific conditions. Absence of secondary metabolites may not show any significance change in the metabolism. We use secondary metabolites as medicines, flavoring agents etc. E.g. antibiotics.
