Dear Student

1.
A cell is the basic structural and functional unit of life. The 'cell' was discovered in 1665 by Robert Hooke.

2. The shape and size of cell depends on the function it performs. For example, RBCs are designed in such a way that they have to carry oxygen in the bound form with haemoglobin. Nucleus occupies adequate space in the cell. So, RBCs do not have nucleus in order to accommodate more haemoglobin to carry oxygen. Kindly post other question in different thread.

3. Cells are so small so the surface area and volume of them can be proportional to each other. This helps with the efficiency of the cell's absorption and waste expulsion processes. Also by the cell's smallness, communication from the nucleus to other organelles is fast and the cell can be regulated while the conditions for diffusion are still ideal.

Post other questions in separate threads to have rapid assistance from our experts.
