Plz xplain para 128,129

In line 128  John the narrator asked Helen why did she always come in sections?.In answer Helen said "How can you keep a lady working all the night and expecting her to do all the facilities the next day?".She was answering the question asked through Ouija boards.

In line 129 John asked her(Helen) Then why do you bother?i.e then why do you come again n again.
