It also allows parties, candidates to compete with each other in a fair manner and muster support from the people so as to come to power, where every party has a fair chance to win and lose.
a. Elections are an integral part of our Democratic system, a medium to exercise our choice and also to bring about a peaceful change in the society from one government to another.
b. Our system of elections ensure free competition amongst the multi party system.
c. This provides ample choice to the voters.
d. Political competition among political parties ensures that parties respond to the needs of the people.
e. Fear of losing power compels political leadership to be attentive to people's needs.
f. If people are not satisfied with the present government they can peacefully change it by means of elections.
g. It allows political parties to raise issues of national importance as desired by the people.
h.Electoral competition has also provided incentive to our political leaders in their competition for power to serve the people, to ensure their welfare.
i. It has also ensured that government is more accountable and responsive to the needs of the people
