Poverty is not a sole cause of deforestation but it is a major component that leads to deforestation.Many of the forests throughout the world are located in poorest or backward areas, which are poverty stricken. The people residing in these areas do not have any means of subsistence, thus, forests become one of the main sources of survival for many poor individuals but at the forest’s expense. They cut down forests as they have no other option of survival. So poverty leads to compulsive deforestation.
