Process of replica plating
Dear Student,
In this experiment a master plate is formed in which bacteria grow in the presence of nutrient medium. Now exact replica of this plate is made by adding same composition of culture medium in other plate except the antibiotics are present in replica plate which prevent the growth of bacteria. Take a velvet or cotton cloth and press in first culture medium and then place in replica plate having Antibiotics so only few bacteria grow in second plate.
Conclusion- Ledberg conclude that some bacteria have already adaptation for resistance against it, it is not due to mutation.
