Taxation policy can affect the dividend decisions of a company either directly or indirectly.The taxes directly reduce the residual earnings available for shareholders.Of dividend income is taxable in the hands of investors and capital gain is exempt,then tye company may retain its earnings so as to increase the price per share, which ultimately gives high return to investors.Further if it is possible to differentiate between investors of high tax bracket and low tax bracket, the dividend policy can be framed accordingly.
