In ∆ EBDusing pythagoras triplet since we know pythagoras is 5 cmtherefore other two sides will be 3 cm and 4 cmfrom fig EB>DB∴EB=4 cm and DB=3 cmThus the value of DB=3 cmNow, in ∆EDCArea of ∆EDC=12×EC×DB=12×EB+BC×DB=12×12+4×3=12×16×3=8×3⇒Area of ∆EDC=24 cm2
