Q.26 both first and second part plx

Dear Student,
i) Hydraulic Washing
Principle - Gravity separation is a process of concentration of ore in which gangue(impurity) is separated from desired metal ore on the basis of their specific gravities.
Generally water is used to carry out the process and thus gravity separation is also known as hydraulic washing.
ii) Vapour phase refining
Principle - Certain metals are converted to their volatile compounds while the impurities are not affected during compound formation, and upon heating of volatile compounds they decompose to give pure metal.
For example :- Impure Zr is treated with I2 to give volatile ZrI4, which upon heating decomposes to give pure Zr.
Regards.
