Q. A child pulls a rope attached to a stone with a force of 60N. the rope makes an angle of 40 degree to the ground.
a) calculate the effective value of the pull tending to move the stone along the ground.
b) Calculate the force tending to lift the stone vertically.

Fx = F.cosθ = 60.cos40
so,
Fx = 39 N
and
(b) the vertical force is (to lift stone vertically)
Fy = F.sinθ = 60.sin40
so,
Fy = 46 N
