1. Tap roots are long and thick roots with a greater surface area and they reach the deeper layers of soil. So, they are more efficient in water absorption from deeper layers. Plants with tap root needs more water for their growth and development. Tap roots are found in dicot plants.

2. Fibrous root arises in clusters from the base of the stem. They do not have a main root.
