Q.  At prophase, chromosomes remain condensed so how can it say that chromosomes become visible as fine long threads?

The DNA in the form of chromatin fibres is not clearly visible under microscope but when they condense during prophase, they form higly coiled thick thread like structutes called chromosomes which are easily visible under microscope.
