Q. Is this structure chiral or not ? If yes, why ?

Dear student.

The given structure is an achiral molecule. It has two H-atoms attached to the central carbon atom.

The carbon atom which has four different groups attached to it are said to be chiral. A chiral molecule is non-superimposable on its mirror image

For example:

Hope this helps.

                                                                                    C
                                                                                     |
                                                                           OH - C - H
                                                                                     |
                                                                                    H
THE GIVEN STRUCTURE IS NOT A CHIRAL  BECAUSE
CHIRAL CARBON MEANS HAVING 4 DIFFERENT GROUPS ATTACHED TO A CARBON . BUT THE GIVEN COMPOUND HAS 2 SAME ELEMENT i . e , H
