Good morning respected teachers ,good morning to all of you .Today I am here before you to speak something about the topic of Independence Day.
In 15th August , 1947 ,we got our freedom from the British . It is a great day of our country.India
has always been famous for spices, textiles, jewellery and pearl. Many countries came here for trade such as Arabs, the Portugueses , the Dutch, the English , the Frence. The English emerged as the most powerful among them. They traded through the English East India Company. The Company bought goods from India cheaply and sold them aboard at high prices .This resulted in huge profits for the company.Slowly , the English conquered large parts of India. They used unfair means to exploit the farmers, traders and the rulers of princely states.Indian rulers and princes were unhappy with the English . A law was passed that if ruler do not have male child ,after the death of the ruler the kingdom will be under British rule.In 1857 a major revolt broke out that was the Frist War of Independence. The soldiers declared the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar as their leader. After the revolt many Indians were killed or put into jail.Educated Indians realized that the English wanted to keep the Indians poor and backward. The growing feeling of nationalism resulted in the Indian National Congress being formed in 1885. It was started by an English man name A O Hume.Jawaharlal Nehru was the first prime minister of India. He said:'' At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps , India will awake to life and freedom.''Our national flag was hoist in this day.
Thank You!
