Q. What is the area of the shaded triangle?

Clearly, ABC is  right triangle  at BArea of ABC=12×Base×Height=12×BC×AB=12×5×12=30 cm2Now ABD is  right triangle at BArea of ABD=12×Base×Height=12×BD×AB=12×BC+CD×AB=12×5+4×12=12×9×12=54 cm2Now area of shaded triangle=Area of ABD-Area of ABC=54-30 cm2=24 cm2

area of total figure = 54cm
​area of not shaded figure = 30cm
area of shaded portion = 54-30= 24cm

It is a higher method which is in class 9 NCERT. If you can understand it then it is good otherwise leave it.
