Q)What was the situation of women in 20th century in India?how did some reformers help in improving the situation?




1)  From the early 20th century, Muslim women played a notable role in promoting education among women. They founded primary schools for girls at Aligarh

2)  Another remarkable woman, Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain started schools for Muslim girls in Patna and Calcutta. Women also formed pressure groups to push laws for female suffrage (the right to vote) and better health care and education for women.

3)  Leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhash Chandra Bose also lent their support to demands for greater equality and freedom for women. Nationalist leaders promised that there would be full suffrage for men and women after Independence.
