Let us assume that the amount Ryan had to withdraw is a 4-digit number
Also, let a be the digit in the thousands place, b in the hundreds place, c in the tens place and d in the ones place
 So, the amount he had to withdraw = 1000a + 100b + 10c + d
Now, Ryan wrote the last two digits in place of the first two digits, and first two digits in place of the last two digits in the cheque
In other words, he wrote c in the thousands place, d in the hundreds place, a in the tens place and b in the ones place
 So, the amount he actually withdrew = 1000c + 100d + 10a + b
Now, Ryan brought a 5 rupees pouch with the withdrawn money
 So, the amount now left with him = 1000c + 100d + 10a + b - 5
Ryan now realised that the amount that was left with him is twice the actual amount that he should have written in the cheque
∴ 1000c + 100d + 10a + b - 5 = 21000a + 100b + 10c + d⇒ 1000c + 100d + 10a + b - 5 = 2000a + 200b + 20c + 2d⇒ 980c + 98d - 1990a - 199b - 5 = 0⇒ 9810c + d - 19910a + b - 5 = 0The above equation is satisfied when c = 6, d = 3, a = 3 and b = 1
So, the amount Ryan withdrew = 1000c + 100d + 10a + b = 6000 + 300 + 30 + 1 = Rs

 So, amount left with him = Rs

 There can be more solutions to this question, where the amount withdrawn could be a 5-digit, 6-digit, or a number with greater number of digits - it must satisfy the given conditions
