A good afternoon to or teachers and my fellow students. The topic for this debate is that computers are important for children. I shall express my views in favour of the motion.

Today, computers have evolved to become not only a help, but also a good friend. Computers let us convert raw data into meaningful information. It aids in letting us do a particular work in a matter of minutes, something that took our forefathers hours to complete. Children can seek help from various educational websites and sources for academic help. Computer games have proved to be a great source of entertainment. Social networking sites make kids socially active.

The use of computers is almost an integral part of our day-to-day lives. I think schools should make it a point to introduce computers to students from an early age.

Computers are in virtually every home, office and school in the United States today and computer-literacy is critical for functioning in today's economy. Children should therefore be exposed to computers at an early age. Given the dangers of Internet predators parents should rightfully be concerned about their children's computer usage and take active steps to monitor their children when using a computer. Parents must also recognize that computers are a necessity for kids.

    • Kids of today are growing up in an environment where knowledge of computers is not just an asset but a necessity. Excessively restricting kids' access to computers can put them at an unfair disadvantage where computer usage is concerned.

    • In today's society, computers serve as an important educational resource for kids. They can have access to more learning materials and programs on computers, can be exposed to people from around the world through social networking sites and can retrieve information more quickly by simply going on the Internet and performing a simple search. Teachers typically find it easier to assign and collect homework electronically as well.

    Computers Can Enhance Creativity

    • Not only can computers enhance learning, it can also be an added way for kids to show their creativity. It can help them develop problem-solving skills, programming skills, design skills and even help them improve on their writing, math, reading and other subjects.
