Ans 1- Almas Javed's father was the first to feel the tremors and see the water recede. He tried to rush the whole family to a secret place but Almas's grandfather got hit in the head by something and as soon as her father went to help him, they both were carried away by the first wave. Alma's mother and grandmother were carried away while calling out to her, clinging to leaves of a coconut tree. Almas saw a wooden log and climbed onto it. She fainted after getting onto the log. When she woke up, she was in a hospital in Kamorta.
Ans 2- Thirteen-year old Meghna and her parents were swept away by the tides. She spent two days floating in the water by holding onto a wooden door. She was brought to the shore by a wave, and was found walking on the seashore in a daze.
