As we know that all the four angles of the rectangle are equal to 90^o. Then the diagonal alongwith the two sides will form a right angle triangle.

By pythogoras theorom we know that:

Hypotenuse²= Perpendicular²+ Base².

So Hypotenuse =√Perpendicular²+ Base²= (Here hypotenuse = ? and Perpendicular = Breadth of the rectangular field = 60 M and Base = Length of the rectangular field = 80 M).

Hypotenuse =√(80)2 + (60)2

Hypotenuse =√6400 + 3600

Hypotenuse =√10000 = 100 M.

If we had to walk on the adjacent side of the rectangular field, then we travel a distance of (80 + 60) = 140 M, and if we walk on the diagonal of the rectangular field we will travel = 100 M.
