Question no 13

13. Find the equations of the bisectors of the angles between the coordinate axes.

Dear Student,

Since the coordinate axis i.e., x = 0 and y = 0 intersect at origin O(0, 0) and are perpendicular to each other i.e., angle between them is 90°
So, the bisector of angle between coordinate axis will pass through (0, 0) making an angle 45° with both the axis.
Hence the required equation is x = ±y

(Using y = mx where m = tanθ and θ = 45º)
